MINISTRY OF CIVIL AVIATION, HEADED BY SHRI PRAFUL PATEL,
HAS EXTENDED HIS SUPPORT.
The tournament will also be a major step towards giving
kabaddi the much deserved and awaited Olympic status.
An event of this magnitude involves a huge expenditure
and the various agencies and ministeries of the state
and central government have extended their support. The
Ministry of Civil Aviation, headed by Shri Praful Patel,
has extended his support by granting discounted fares
to the participating teams travelling by our national
carriers Air India and Indian . The Karnala Sports Academy
at New Panvel has good facilities to host an event like
this. They have an olympic size swimming pool, a cafetaria
providing Indian and continental food besides other facilities
required for the participants. The venue will have a temporary
stadium designed specially for the purpose that will accomodate
about ten thousand spectators. Raigad district has been
home to many a noted kabaddi player at the state and national
level and the sport enjoys a large following there.
Most of the teams are expected to be accompanied by high
ranking officials from their respective national federations,
thus providing a good opportunity for leaders India to
chart the future course of development of the game which
going by the current trend should reach the olympic games
by the year 2016. |
